
Jessica Michelle Chastain, born on March 24, 1977, is an American actress. Her films that address the theme of women are her mainstay. She has won many awards including an Academy Award as well as an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award. Time magazine named her one the 100 most influential celebrities globally in 2012. Chastain was an enthusiastic actor from an early age. She made her performance debut on stage as Shakespeare's Juliet in 1998. After completing her acting studies at the Juilliard School, she was accepted into a talent-holding deal with the producer of television John Wells. She was frequently a guest on several television shows and also played a variety of roles in stage productions. Chastain made her film debut with Jolene (2008) aged 31. The actress went on to make six films in the year 2011 with the most notable being The Tree of Life (2011) and Take Shelter (2011). Chastain was also nominated for Academy Award nominations as a part of The Help (2011), in which she played an aspirational socialite, and Zero Dark Thirty (2012) as a CIA analyst. The science-fiction films Interstellar (2014) & The Martian (2015) were commercially more successful than the horror film It Chapter Two (2019). Chastain's strong-willed performances in the dramas A Most Valuable Year (2014), Miss Sloane (2016), Molly's Game (2017) and Scenes from a Marriage (2021) were also highly acclaimed. She later played Tammy Faye Bakker in the biopic The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021) which won her the Academy Award for Best Actress as well as Tammy Wynette in the miniseries George & Tammy (2022).
