Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946, in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 children from a poor family children that would be raised in the same household, figured out very early on how to conquer of her difficulties with her incredibly vibrant imagination. Her songs were written before she could write or read. The first time she picked up a guitar was when she was just 8 years old and started singing at an Knoxville Tenn radio station at the age of eleven. The following year, Gold Band Records was a tiny independent record label. While still in highschool she established herself local, but longed for having a bigger stage. She relocated to Nashville shortly after her graduation in 1964. Dumb Blonde was her first album to be charted on Monument Records. Around this time, Porter Wagoner was looking for the next girl to perform on the show he had syndicated to television. Parton was hired in 1967, signed with RCA Records by 1968, she joined the Grand Ole Opry. She quit Wagoner's act in 1974 after her own hits like Joshua Coat of Many Colors & Jolene beat out the collaborations. Parton wrote "I I Will Never Forget You" to Wagoner shortly after they separated. The song was ranked No. 1. for the first time since 1974.
